Frequently Asked Questions
What is car detailing?
Car detailing concentrates more on the rejuvenation and protection of the vehicle, rather than simply washing it, with the ultimate aim of bringing it up to or above its factory condition. Every stage of a car detail is given much more care and attention and uses the highest quality products whereas a valet company will normally use cheap, harsh products bought in bulk.
Are you fully insured?
We take as much care as possible when undertaking work on your car. However, for your peace of mind, we are fully insured with both public liability and accidental damage insurance. Some car detailing and many car valet companies deem accidental damage insurance unnecessary meaning your car isn't covered if it's accidently damaged, something you should check before allowing anyone to work on your car.
Why use you when I have a cheap car wash locally?
Although supermarket car and mechanical automatic car washes may seem good value they are very harsh on your car for various reasons. Supermarket car washes tend to use inferior products and normally use sponges on multiple cars without properly cleaning them. This results in dirt being dragged over your paint and causing swirl marks. Automatic mechanical car washes also use inferior products and the brushes a far to harsh for your paintwork. Both are basically only interested in getting as many cars through as they can. We on the other hand use top of the range products and take the greatest care of your car at every stage of its treatment. So, although they may be convenient and seem good value, the cheap and cheerful car washes can inflict a serious amount of damage to your car, dulling it's appearance and, in turn, devaluing it.
Does car detailing correct stone chips?
No, detailing car detailing does not correct stone chips. However depending on how severe the stone chip is we can fill the chip with paint and then sand and machine polish it. This will greatly improve the appearance and, although not always 100% perfect, is much cheaper than having the panel re-sprayed.
Why can't I produce the same results as you at home?
Three main reasons. Firstly you haven't had as much practice as we have! Secondly products available at your local shop tend to be what we'd term low end, not to say they're awful just not the best. Thirdly we use equipment such as polishing machines and paint thickness gauges which are normally too expensive for the average person.
How long will it take to detail my vehicle?
It depends on the level of detailing you require (external, external and internal, external, internal and engine) the size of the vehicle and, more importantly, if you require paint correction. An exterior detail and a medium size car will take in the region of 4-6 hours, whereas a full internal and external detail with paint correction would be at least 12 hours, often 18-24 hours carried out over 2 days.
Do you need to take my car away?
We are fully mobile and undertake the work on location. Our van is totally self sufficient having it's own water and electricity supplies. Provided there is space to park next to your vehicle and room to move around it then we can detail it. However if you have shelter such as a garage then that's a definite help as we can then work on your vehicle regardless of the weather.
How far will you travel?
Although most of our clients are relatively local to us, within 30 miles, we are happy to travel to any location although additional charges will be made for mileage and, possibly, for overnight stays.
How much will it cost?
The cost of the detail will depend on what treatments you choose and the vehicle itself, both the vehicle size and, if paint correction is required, the extent of the defects and the hardness of the paint. Please see our Services page then, if you have any queries, please don't hesitate in getting in touch.
